CCTV Site Survey Service

Threat Analysis

After having a preliminary conversation with one our engineers, we would schedule a site survey of your business in Weymouth. This is essential because it allows both the engineer as well as business owners to discuss any complicated requirements. Our engineers have a lot of experience and a site inspection is a great way to get to know your building.

A threat analysis looks at the entrances and exits of your building to identify potential danger areas. The purpose of a threat analysis is to help you identify the most important areas, many of which are often ignored by the business owner.

Site surveys require qualified engineers who are skilled in detail. This may sound easy enough to do on your own. However, it takes careful thought to ensure that your equipment functions properly.

How Does A CCTV Site Survey Work?

What is involved in a CCTV Site Inspection?

A professional engineer will inspect your business to take accurate measurements. This will allow you to determine how easy it will become to install CCTV. It will also help you to decide where the equipment should be placed to get the maximum benefit. A professional will conduct a site survey to determine how best to maintain your equipment. This is important because you want to protect your investment.

A site survey will examine the area where you plan to put your CCTV cameras. This will include both storage and monitoring systems. Your survey will verify that you have sufficient connectivity and storage space to support the operation of your cameras.

Once you have done a thorough investigation of the equipment that is most suitable for your needs and how it can best be found, the site survey will focus on durability. CCTV equipment should be affordable and durable.

The site survey does more than just look at what you can do now. It also identifies ways to make sure that the investment will continue to be profitable over time. A site survey is a great opportunity to document future improvements, especially if you are on a tight budget.

How will an Engineer conduct a Survey of a Site?

What angles will give you the best results? Are the surfaces suitable for the cameras and can the placement allow for an uninterrupted view? Is there sufficient lighting to permit proper functioning of the proposed camera locations without creating any problems? Specialist night vision cameras may be necessary if the camera needs to be run overnight.

The site survey will not only research and measure the best locations for the cameras, but it will also show how they connect to the control/monitoring apparatus.

If you plan to install a wired network, how will the wiring be routed to the monitor? Transmission quality can be affected by long wires (and they can run up to 500ft). Engineers will make sure that the camera’s specs are sufficient to handle these long wires.

Although wireless equipment is usually able to pass through walls and other obstacles, transmissions can still be made from the camera to your monitor. But, this can’t always be taken as a given. A moveable camera allows you to control the zoom and direction remotely. This signal must be considered when you are mapping out your system.

Site Survey Considerations

A site survey is made up many components. This guide will help identify them. First, determine the purpose for the installation. You should also consider the location and the customer’s needs. Also, you need to review the security procedures in place and create new ones. A successful surveillance installation will depend on the location and purpose of the cameras, their placement, and the existing network infrastructure.

Camera Options

There are many CCTV cameras on offer, and there are solutions for every industry. Because of this wide selection, it can be difficult for businesses to select the right CCTV camera.

Analogue CCTV Systems Versus IP Cameras

An analogue cam is a traditional CCTV camera. It sends video through cable to VCRs, or DVRs. IP cameras include all digital cameras capable of sending signals over cable to be stored within the network. Many security camera systems include digital and analogue elements.

Analogue cameras offer lower quality video than IP cameras. They provide greater video site ranges (such as a wide or narrow field view) and better zooming-in capabilities. They also transmit digital signals which means they have better video detail. This is useful for facial recognition, as well as detecting details such license plates.

Although they are lower quality than IP camera, analog cameras perform better under low light conditions. Analogue cameras don’t have the same zoom-in capabilities as IP cameras and are limited in site coverage. Analogue images are more grainy and will appear less sharp. Analogue cameras are limited to NTSC/PAL resolutions of 720 x 480 pixels. This means that you will not be able recognize the perpetrators if you zoom in.

IP cameras offer a number of advantages. They can be powered using a twisted pair Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for electrical wiring throughout your home.

Data Security and Storage Options

Analog cameras are much more vulnerable to security breaches, as feeds can be physically intercepted. Also, tapes and recording device can be stolen. Analogue video feeds also are not encrypted. Analogue security cameras, however, have been around more than fifty years and have a long history.

IP cameras make it difficult to intercept data. They use VPN support to encrypt, compress, and transport data over the Internet.

The digital video recorder used by analogue cameras is replaced with a digital video recorder. Each camera’s video is compressed, and then recorded onto a NVR (Network Video Recorder). The only difference is that the digital signal is sent at much higher resolutions than analogue. The NVR streams video from all camera and broadcasts it via LAN or over the internet. Remote viewing is possible through the NVR. Remote viewing is possible from your mobile phone.
